From the spectacular County Courthouse in the center of our newly enhanced Downtown Plaza, to the Alluring Cabins in the Ponderosa Pines, you'll find us full of charm, history and small town character. While you're here, enjoy fishing, camping, hiking & explore old Indian ruins. Stroll around the Courthouse Plaza and visit the quaint stores and shops. If you love shopping for antiques, Prescott is full of unique and interesting antique stores. Come explore our charming town. You'll be glad you did!
While you're here, take time to visit one of our several museums. Sharlot Hall Museum features the old Governors Mansion plus several restored buildings from our early pioneer days as the Territorial Capitol. It's well worth taking the time to see. Prescott has at least 525 buildings on the Register of Historic Places. Also, don't miss The Smoki Museum behind the old National Guard Armory on East Gurley Street. By preserving it's past, Prescott is assuring it's future.
A perfect example of this ongoing preservation is the elegant Historic Hassayampa Inn built in 1927 shown above. Make sure to stop by this landmark and see what a brilliant job they've done with the restoration.
Whiskey Row is still a favorite for visitors and locals alike. The "old timers" tell us that this historic and colorful street was once four or five blocks long and lined with saloons! In fact, one of the volunteer fire brigades was made up of clientele from Whiskey Row. That must have been a real sight to see all those drunks staggering out of the bars to answer the fire bell!
Together with four mild seasons, revitalizing clean air and lot's of pleasant folks, we know you'll fall in love with our little town the minute you first set foot on it. That's what happened to us! From the moment you drive into town, you'll know you're home! Prescott Valley, Chino Valley and Humbolt Dewey are just a short drive from downtown town Prescott.
