The Old Courthouse and Courthouse Plaza are the "Crown
Jewels" of Prescott. You'll find locals and visitors strolling around at most
anytime of the day or night. We still look each other in the eyes and say howdy!
Back in the "old days" according to our own Melissa Ruffner, Prescott had what
was called Strangers Day. Anyone new in town, or just visiting, was
invited to come to the Plaza where the locals would greet and make them feel at
home. Well, we don't have Strangers Day anymore, but we think you'll experience
that hometown feeling from the first moment you come to Prescott!
The Courthouse Plaza is the focal point for many of
the activities that make Prescott so popular. During the summer, there is
something going on almost every night. We attended a band concert given by the
Arizona National Guard Band from Phoenix. These guys are really great! When the
band played God Bless America, the entire audience came to their feet
at the same time. No one asked them to do this. It just happened. You can't
begin to imagine the magic that overcame the audience and the band as well.
America is alive and well in Prescott!
